Breathing Statues

Breathing Statues is a collection of my recorded arrangements and compositions for groups of saxophones.  These started out as birthday gifts for my mom.  She would request a song and I would create an arrangement for her.  They’ve taken on a life of their own so I decided to give the project its own title.  It is not the statues that are breathing; it is me, the musician, using my breath to create fixed objects in the stony permanence of digital recording.  Although antithetical to the project’s name, it would be fun to perform these in public at some point, I certainly know enough great saxophonists, even if there would be more people on stage than in the audience.
